Monday night saw Brandon Overton return to action at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) for the 49th annual DIRTcar Nationals. With 44 cars on hand, Overton fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a 6th place finish. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, Brandon locked into the 22nd-starting position for the opening night feature. Breaking into the Top-10, Brandon Overton improved 12 spots in the 30-lapper to place 10th.
The following night, Brandon laid down the second fastest lap in his time trial group behind Dale McDowell before picking up an 8-lap heat race victory. Starting the $7,000-to-win A-Main in fifth, Overton fell seven spots to register a 12th place outing.
For the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series sanctioned contest on Wednesday evening, Overton followed up the fifth fastest time in his qualifying group with a heat race victory. Earning the second-starting position for the A-Main, Brandon exchanged blows with another competitor while battling for the lead that forced him retire early from the 40-lap affair.
On Thursday afternoon for the fourth round of the 49th annual DIRTcar Nationals, Brandon suffered a broken fan blade in his heat race that damaged his radiator. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Overton logged an 8th place finish.
After laying down the ninth fastest lap in his time trial group on Friday evening, Overton scored a 3rd place finish in his heat race which positioned him tenth on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Passing five cars in the 40-lap affair, Brandon notched a 5th place finish behind Jimmy Owens, Kyle Bronson, Darrell Lanigan, and Brandon Sheppard.
Wrapping up the 49th annual DIRTcar Nationals on Saturday, Overton fell short of a transfer spot in his heat race with a 7th place finish. Grabbing the 3rd and final transfer spot in his B-Main, Brandon locked into the 21st-starting position for the finale. With $10,000 on the line, Brandon gained three spots in the 50-lapper to place 18th.
