Taking part in the inaugural Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals, Brandon Overton visited Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon as the famed facility covered the half-mile oval with dirt for a week full of racing. In a field of 55 Super Late Models, Overton followed up the second fastest lap in his time trial group behind Kyle Larson with an eight-lap heat race victory. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Brandon faded back early from his fourth-starting spot and would eventually retire on lap 10 while running in 12th. (Josh James Artwork)
The following night, Brandon posted a runner-up finish in his heat behind Frank Ingram, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the $50,000-to-win Bristol Dirt Nationals finale. Unable to gain any momentum in the 50-lap affair, Overton withdrew from competition on lap 15.
