Brandon Overton enjoys two win weekend at I-75 and Modoc

Not once, but twice over the weekend Brandon Overton parked his Wells Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model in Victory Lane. (Richard Barnes photo)

The Georgia pilot swept weekend action in Tennessee and South Carolina to register over $10,000 in winnings as his season, win total soared to eight.

“We got two more wins this weekend, but we really had to work for them. We got a little behind to start the night on Friday at I-75 Raceway, but we had a fast car in the feature and was able to get to the front. Then we led the first 10 laps in traffic on Saturday night at Modoc before losing the lead in lapped traffic, but then thankfully we were able to get the lead back late in the race in lapped traffic,” Overton shared. “It was another great weekend for our Wells Motorsports team, and I’m just the lucky guy who gets to drive.”

After losing the event twice to Mother Nature, Brandon Overton visited I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon for the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals sanctioned program. With the top-four qualifiers getting locked into the main event, Overton was forced to start the feature in 10th after picking up a B-Main victory. Sneaking past race-long leader Dale McDowell amid lapped-traffic on lap 23, Brandon stormed to his seventh win of the season over Michael Page, McDowell, Cory Hedgecock, and Tyler Millwood. His fourth career Spring Nationals win was worth $5,053.

The following night at Modoc Raceway (Modoc, S.C.) for the ULTIMATE Southeast Series-sanctioned Jack Starrette Memorial, Brandon topped the 27-car field in time trials, which positioned him on the pole for the A-Main. Overton led the first 10 circuits of the finale before surrendering the lead to Trent Ivey. Not to be denied Brandon retook the lead on lap 35, and went on to register his eighth victory of the season and second win in as many nights.

He took checkers ahead of Trent Ivey, Zack Mitchell, Ross Bailes, and Anthony Sanders to pocket $5,022.
