Brandon Overton completes Dream sweep, earns $273,000

The historic weekend found Overton increasing his 2021-win total to 15 in the Wells & Sons Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model.

“I always dreamed of winning this deal or winning at race at Eldora, and you get one, and there’s such a short time to get (ready for the next one), I wanted to win this one worse than anything, you know?” Overton said Saturday in victory lane. “I’m like, damn, I didn’t ever think I was going to win one, now I’m getting a little greedy wanting two.

“This is awesome. A dream come true. I swore I wasn’t going to get emotional, but this is bad-ass to leave here with all this money.”

The Wells and Sons Motorsports team invaded Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon to kick off four days of racing with preliminary action for the 27th annual Dirt Late Model Dream up first.

With the 74-car field split into two separate groups for a pair of preliminary features, Overton timed in seventh fastest in his group before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the fourth-starting position for the A-Main, Brandon slid into the lead on lap 22 after the race-long leader got into the wall. He led the final three circuits to capture his 12th win of the season and a $10,000 prize. Kyle Bronson, Chad Simpson, Ricky Weiss, and Chris Ferguson followed him across the line in the 25-lap affair.

On Thursday afternoon with preliminary results lining him up second in his heat, Brandon outdueled Dale McDowell to pick up the win. After running in a steady pace in the early parts of the 100-lap 27th annual Dirt Late Model Dream, Overton wrestled away the lead from Brandon Sheppard on lap 61 to assume command. Leading the final 40 circuits, Brandon Overton soared to his first-career Dirt Late Model Dream victory over Tim McCreadie, Kyle Bronson, Dale McDowell, and Brandon Sheppard. He earned $127,000 for his 13th victory of the season.

For the 26th annual Dirt Late Model Dream prelims on Friday, Overton topped the charts in time trials before gaining two spots in his heat race to capture the victory. Overtaking Ryan Gustin for the lead on the ninth lap, Brandon paced the field in the 25-lapper to capture his third win in as many nights.

To wrap up the Dream weekend on Saturday, Brandon captured a convincing win in his heat, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the finale. After working his way up to third by the 10th circuit, Overton snuck ahead of Kyle Bronson for second on lap 12 and began chipping away at Darrell Lanigan’s lead. Clawing ahead of Lanigan on lap 53, Brandon kept Chris Madden at bay in the waning laps to claim his 15th win of the season and fourth of the weekend. His $126,00 victory on Saturday elevated his weekend earnings $273,000.

“What David, Eric, and the entire Wells family have put together for me with this team is just incredible. I’m just the lucky guy, who gets to drive. From the bottom of my heart, I thank them and everyone who supports this program. Hopefully, we’re all going to be racing together for a long time.
