Brandon Overton
Podium finish in Topless 100 at Batesville
With Mother Nature condensing the three-day event into a two-day program, Brandon Overton was one of 47 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) on Friday afternoon for the 29th annual Comp Cams Topless 100. Following the second fastest qualifying effort in his group, Overton streaked to a 10-lap heat race win. Starting the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature in third, Brandon lost one spot in the 30-lap affair to finish fourth. He followed Jimmy Owens, Tim McCreadie, and Nick Hoffman across the line with Ricky Thornton Jr. coming in fifth.
Earning the fourth-starting position for Saturday night’s $40,000-to-win Topless 100 via his finish on Friday, Brandon faded in the first half of the race but regained momentum late in the 100-lapper to finish third. He took the checkers behind Hudson O’Neal and Jonathan Davenport with Tim McCreadie and Jimmy Owens rounding out the Top-5.
