Brandon Overton
Runner-up finish in Sunshine State 50 finale at All-Tech
Making his first start of the season aboard the Longhorn Chassis developmental car, Brandon Overton invaded All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.) on Friday afternoon to pilot the Kevin Rumley-owned No. 5 Late Model for the two-day Sunshine State 50.
Drawing 28 XR Super Series entries, Brandon’s third-place finish in his heat race placed him on the fifth row for the Friday’s prelim. With $20,000 on the line, Overton gained three spots in the 40-lapper to register a sixth-place finish.
On Saturday, Overton timed in sixth-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat race. Earning the third-starting position for the $30,000-to-win A-Main, Brandon led 14 of the 50-laps but ultimately settled with a second-place finish when the checkered flag flew. He trailed Jonathan Davenport across the line with Joseph Joiner, Kyle Bronson, and Mark Whitener rounding out the Top-5.
Brandon finished fourth in the final XR Super Series point standings.
