Pair of podiums in Firecracker prelims, sixth in Saturday's finale
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) brought Brandon Overton and his Wells Motorsports team to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) on Thursday afternoon for the 17th edition of the Firecracker 100 weekend.
With Thursday’s preliminary features getting postponed to Friday after Overton started the night off with a heat race victory, Brandon went onto place third in the 25-lapper.
Back in action later Friday night, Brandon’s second-place finish in his heat placed him on the second row for his $5,000-to-win prelim. Jumping up two spots, Overton notched a second-place finish, which came behind Ricky Thornton Jr. with Jonathan Davenport rounding out the podium.
Getting off to a hot start on Saturday, Overton topped his group in hot laps before placing first in his heat. Starting the $50,000-to-win Firecracker 100 main event in third, Brandon lost three spots in the 100-lap affair to finish sixth.
Brandon sits third in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
