Brandon Overton visits Eldora Speedway for wet DTWC weekend
The Wells Motorsports team and Brandon Overton returned to action over the weekend as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) drew 62 competitors to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the 43rd running of the General Tire Dirt Track World Championship presented by Automotive Racing Products.
With the originally scheduled two-day show condensed by persistent rain throughout the weekend, Brandon backed up the 10th-fastest qualifying effort in his time trial group on Saturday afternoon with a fourth-to-second showing in his heat race on Sunday.
Starting the $100,000-to-win Dirt Track World Championship in eighth on Sunday night, Overton climbed to third on lap 17 but was able to carry his momentum as the race continued on the rigorous terrain. He ended up retiring early on lap 47, relegating him to 18th in the finishing order.
Brandon finished sixth in the final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
