Overton fifth in Spring Thaw at Volunteer Speedway
With Friday’s opener moved to Sunday, Brandon Overton joined a field of 34 XR Super Series entries at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Saturday for the two-day Spring Thaw.
After setting the pace in time trials with a 12.009-second lap, Overton picked up a flag-to-flag victory in his heat race over Ricky Thornton Jr. Starting on the pole for the $30,000-to-win A-Main, Brandon rallied after pitting on lap 15 to an 11th-place finish.
On Sunday, Brandon backed up a runner-up showing in his heat with a fifth-place finish in the feature. He chased Mike Marlar, Devin Moran, Jimmy Owens, and Dale McDowell to the checkers in the 40-lapper.
